The Tahara Matsuri Kaikan, located in Tahara-cho, a 5-minute walk from Mikawa-Tahara Station on the Atsumi Line, introduces the Tahara Festival and Tahara Kites that have continued since the Edo period, and you can learn about the charm of Tahara’s festival culture.
At the Tahara Festival in September, Shinmachi, Honmachi, and Kayamachi will run a gorgeous float with karakuri dolls on it. Two of the three are on display at all times in the hall.
Tahara kites are introduced to celebrate the birth of a child, the “first kite” with vivid warrior pictures that are still inherited, and the kite used in the famous “fighting kite” battle that cuts threads.
